Our 2025.1 PassGP cohort achieved a staggering 98% pass rate in the AKT and 94% in the KFP. It’s a powerful reminder that success in these exams isn’t reserved for the lucky few — it’s possible with the right preparation, and more importantly, the right technique.
The exams are among the most challenging professional hurdles a GP can face in Australia. For many, they come at a cost — not just in study hours, but in stress, family time, and delayed career progression. It’s understandable to feel disheartened after multiple failed attempts.

What we’ve learned, both as educators and former National College Examiners, is that clinical knowledge alone isn’t always enough. Exams in general can be as much about how you answer as what you know. Clear, structured reasoning. Managing ambiguity. Understanding how questions are written and how marks are awarded. And being able to recognise the minutiae – the one single word in a 200-word stem which changes the entire interpretation of the question.
This is where many candidates stumble — but it’s also where real gains can be made.
